SSPCA appeals for help to neuter rescued dogs

KUCHING: Sarawak Society for Prevention of Cruelty Against Animal (SSPCA) is appealing to the public for donations to help a temple to vaccinate and neuter 34 of their rescued dogs.

“We estimate RM5,000 to RM6,000 to run this project,” its president Datin Dona Drury Wee, said. She said donations can be deposited into their CIMB account number 8005274525.

“We hope to have this project completed within six weeks as we have to allow for the 30-day isolation and observation period after they have received their vaccination, before the dogs can be neutered.” She made the appeal through a press statement after World Animal Day yesterday.

“World Animal Day is a day of action recognised worldwide for animal rights and welfare. It is celebrated on Oct 4, the feast day of Francis of Assisi, the animals’ patron saint,” she said.

Dona said SSPCA has its annual pet blessing at their shelter, conducted by Franciscan friars.
