MANY DOGS TRAPPED BY SNOWSTORM

We have an emergency situation today to reach the dogs snowed in at the Hresa Pound in Bosnia. The pound is up a steep mountain path with two very long dirt roads to access it. But with so much snow, it’s impossible to get to there by car. The municipality would wait for the snow to melt, no matter how hungry the dogs get.

“Snow in Hresa is almost two meters,” volunteer Stephanie Connor explained just now. “These are extreme and unbearable conditions. Nobody wants to clean the two roads, two 2.3 kilometers each, to get to the pound because dogs do not matter to anybody there.”

But the dogs DO MATTER to us. It’s been about a year since we stepped in to care for these dogs, who were eating only moldy bread every few days. Thanks to all of you, we have been able to make sure they now have food each day. One devoted worker named Bosco cares for them and many of the dogs have been pulled into foster care and adopted. He has been trying to get in on foot, but it’s so hard because he’s trying to carry in buckets of water for the dogs too. We’re doing all we can, but Mother Nature is making the work so much harder. We need to clear the road with an excavator during such heavy snow. And another storm is on the way.
