A PET IS FOR LIFE – NOT JUST A SEASON

The festive season is a busy period for our shelter. There is usually an influx of owners who want to surrender their pets before the holidays. Over the past few months, there has been an estimated 50% increase in such requests.

During the festive season, it is easy to get caught up in the festivities and make an impulse decision to get a pet. As a result, some are not truly aware of the time and financial commitment involved when it comes to being a pet owner. The commitment does not end when the holidays are over. When the novelty wears off, the animal may end up being surrendered or abandoned.

There are always alternative ways for animal lovers to help the animals in our shelter, besides adopting one. You can volunteer, sponsor an animal in our shelter, or sign up as a fosterer.
