8 SHOELACE CATS TIED TO THE BED YEAR-ROUND

RESCUE MISSION TO FREE THEM

“I am currently in Serbia where we are with eight adult cats who live literally chained to a bed in house of local Romani people,” rescuer Miska Oksanen explains. “These animals are tied with shoelaces and string and live like this 24/7 for 365 days a year. The people living there now explained that cats were left by previous owner of the house who died and ‘they only tied them up because they did not want them to damage the house. I can’t leave them. Please, can you help us get them out?”

We absolutely must take action for these cats, but at the moment, we the Harmony Fund animal rescue charity are also having a bit of difficulty coming up with enough funds to provide food, shelter and veterinary care for the many thousands of animals internationally who are already in the care of our rescue squads or living on the streets and waiting for their daily meals.

“Although approximately 80% of the animals counting on Harmony Fund for the month of June are assured care, our shortfall is for the care of the last 400 animals at about $16 each,” Harmony Fund Founder Laura Simpson said. “And these eight cats will also need veterinary care and paid foster care. We only have two weeks left in the month. I am a woman of hope and I believe that people do care and will rally to help us. This can be a time of happiness and relief for all the good things we can do together. There’s no way we can leave the cats this way. We just have to proceed on faith.”

Foster care centers within Serbia are being sought at this very moment so that we can free the cats and bring them to safety in the next few days. Although the cats may later be adopted internationally, the first step is to get them to safety and to heal them psychologically and physically.
