Sweet Chalerm Came To Us With A Maggot Wound Aroun..

Sweet Chalerm came to us with a maggot wound around his neck caused by owner negligence – unintended cruelty we’ve been able to save him from, thanks to our wonderful supporters.

Unfortunately, we have noted an uptick in these troubling cases recently. Will you please pledge a small monthly donation to help us care for Chalerm and abused animals like him, and to educate more people so we will hopefully see fewer of these awful occurrences? https://emergency.soidog.org/ert

Chalerm had a wire around his neck that caused chafing, and ultimately, a wound. Once even a small injury exists, in the hot southern Thailand climate where Soi Dog is based, maggots invade and feed on the wounded area, quickly making it bigger and bigger.

We know this is a terrible thought for anyone who loves animals – but it’s so much worse for the affected dog or cat, and is just one the many sad realities of being a homeless animal where we rescue.

Other than this wound, Chalerm appears healthy. Our protocol is to never allow abused animals to return to the situation they were rescued from, so this boy will stay with us. In addition to his wound treatment, he’s been sterilized.

This lovely 2-year-old is a new face among the approximately 1,100 formerly homeless animals we currently care for.

We want to help as many as we can, but we can’t do it alone. Will you please help us save dogs like Chalerm? A small monthly donation to the Emergency Response Team will do more good than you might imagine. To join these amazing animal lovers now, click here: https://emergency.soidog.org/ert

Thank you for caring about Chalerm!
