Do You Remember Batua The Beagle? This Might Sound..

Do you remember Batua the beagle? This might sound like the title of a cheerful cartoon or a children’s book, but the start of this young boy’s story does not make for light reading.

Batua was barely out of puppyhood when he was dumped at a temple late last year. His ribs and hip bones were protruding from starvation. His tricolour fur was crawling with ticks. And his vision was becoming increasingly impaired by his inflamed third eyelids. Fortunately, a concerned monk alerted us to his shocking condition and he was brought into the safety of the Soi Dog shelter.

Due to the knock-on effects of Covid-19, adopted animals are currently unable to travel overseas due to travel restrictions. As a result, our shelter is becoming severely overcrowded. We must urgently create more space. Please, help us keep our doors open to helpless dogs like Batua at this difficult time by donating to our emergency appeal: https://links.soidog.org/Help-dogs-like-Batua

Thanks to our supporters, we were able to give Batua all the love and care he should have received throughout his life. We treated him for ticks and some liver and blood issues, reduced his eye inflammation and, as we do with all animals who come through our hospital, neutered him. Soon after, he was fed, watered, walked and cuddled back to health and happiness.

While the story of Batua the beagle had a tragic beginning, we’re pleased to say that it has a fairytale ending. Last month, he flew to a lovely new family in central Thailand. Just months after being so cruelly abandoned, he is now cherished and loved in a home of his own. This is the magical impact that your support can have.

Adopted dogs flying outside of the country – to the USA, Canada and Europe – are currently stuck at the shelter. This is leaving little room for new arrivals. Please, if you can, help us build more kennels and enclosures and increase our food supplies for these dogs: https://links.soidog.org/Help-dogs-like-Batua

Dogs like Batua truly need you more than ever before.
