IN MEMORY OF OUR DEAR OLD NEMO (LOVINGLY KNOWN AS MOMO).

LASSie’s longest living dog and the first dog any visitors encountered when they came to the shelter was always Nemo. Loud, robust, full of character and possibly irreplaceable for some who loved her. She was a lone ranger as she never liked other dogs but lived with cats and would never hurt them. The reason she was so good with them was that when she was rescued as a puppy, she was hospitalized at the clinic for three months with bad skin and was surrounded by cat patients. Above all, though, she loved people and human attention.

Nemo was always the first to get her morning walks and undeniably the loudest during feeding time. If another dog came too close, she would get angry and upset. She was feisty even when she was struggling to walk: she would use all her energy to stand up and go for a fight. A fighter till the end, she’s an unforgettable character who definitely left her mark on the shelter and in our hearts. The shelter will be very quiet without you, Momo.

The Langkawi Animal Shelter and Sanctuary Foundation is set-up to receive, rehabilitate and care for neglected, abused and needy animals. The organization also runs the Langkawi Island Animal Clinic - a charity project aimed at the sterilization of the stray cat & dog population. Both are non profit ventures, staffed partly by volunteers and aimed at improving the lives of unwanted animals.
