Our volunteer Dylan Wang shares his thoughts:

“I have been waiting for female terrapins to nest since the fourth day of CNY (8th Feb).

Many people may feel that conservation work is unimportant and unremarkable. All conservation workers risk their lives to silently protect and conserve endangered species so that they don’t become extinct, for the sake of our future generations.

Our conservation workers conduct research day and night, and sometimes living in the forest for several months, studying tigers, elephants, pangolins and so on!

I am often asked why am I busy with the turtles?

Can you sell me some turtle eggs?

Can you sell me a softshell turtle?”

Turtle Conservation Society

The Turtle Conservation Society of Malaysia was established in October 2011. The aim of the society is to bring about the recovery of depleted wild populations of turtles, with particular reference to freshwater turtles, in Malaysia through partnerships with like-minded organizations, individuals and local communities as well as through its own programs.
