Updates. We Found The Mother And Another Sibling O..

We are physically and emotionally tired having to deal with our in house shelter animals which people have mostly dropped at our doorstep throughout the years for various reasons.

Most people think that as long as the animals have a space to be in,food and water given everyday, they will be fine. What people do not understand is that if a shelter has too many animals, the animals will be mentally, emotionally and physically affected. Furthermore staffs will not be able to cope with an overcrowded shelter.

Imagine being under a lock down with 15 people in a house meant for 5 for the rest of your lives. That’s how it is for most shelter animals as the adoption rate is very low compared to the rate of abandonement.

Yesterday we had a mummy and her 4 tiny kittens together with 4 older kittens abandoned in a box. So that’s 9 of them dumped at our property early in the morning before opening time. All of them were running freely. They were obviously owned pets as they were healthy.

Those who think that animals do not have feelings are unsympathetic and inconsiderate.

If you are unable to care for too many pets, please consider spaying and neutering your pets. This not only helps with the quality of their lives, but also with controlling populations and saving lives of many animals.

The Langkawi Animal Shelter and Sanctuary Foundation is set-up to receive, rehabilitate and care for neglected, abused and needy animals. The organization also runs the Langkawi Island Animal Clinic - a charity project aimed at the sterilization of the stray cat & dog population. Both are non profit ventures, staffed partly by volunteers and aimed at improving the lives of unwanted animals.
