In 2020, The Highest Hawksbill Nestings Was Record..

 




In 2020, WWF-Malaysia has recorded the highest number of hawksbill nests secured for incubation in Melaka – which is 807 nests. Our team has been working on the ground for 15 years (2006-present) together with the Department of Fisheries Melaka. We are currently looking for individuals who are passionate in joining our turtle conservation efforts.

Position: Hawksbill Turtle Conservation Assistant

Working Location: Melaka Field Site (Masjid Tanah, Melaka)

Contract Period: April – September 2021

.

Responsibilities:

1. To conduct nightly beach patrols (8.00 pm – 5.30 am) at key nesting beaches in Melaka under the supervision of Officers.

2. To collect data on nesting turtles.

3. To assist in stranded turtle data collection.

4. To assist in community outreach activities when needed.

5. To share and provide relevant input/opinions during discussions and meetings.

6. To prepare and submit daily reports of turtle nesting.

7. To assist officers on any related tasks in achieving WWF-Malaysia’s goals.

Requirements:

● Must be aged 18 years or older. Fresh graduates are encouraged to apply.

● Able to work with minimal supervision, and has the capability to make decisions or act on issues with professionalism.

● Proficiency in Bahasa Malaysia is a must to communicate with locals (ability to speak the local dialect is an advantage).

● Computer literate (MS Words and Excel).

● Good interpersonal skills, versatile, able to work in a team and independently.

● Possesses a valid driving license, preferably, with the ability to drive a manual car.

● Candidates do not hold withstanding fines from JPJ and PDRM.

● Good understanding of current issues especially knowledge on environmental and conservation issues.

● Diligent and able to maintain the project vehicle and equipment at its optimum state.

● Able to follow terms and conditions set by WWF-Malaysia.
