Campaign Victory. For Months, Spca Selangor, As A ..

CAMPAIGN VICTORY!

For months, SPCA Selangor, as a member of the Open Wing Alliance, was engaged in this campaign to persuade Yum! Brands, which owns KFC, Pizza Hut, and Taco Bell, and Yum! Brands’ franchise owner in Malaysia, QSR Brands (M) Holdings Bhd, to make the switch to cage-free eggs and to end the use of battery cages for layer hens.

Today, Yum! Brands has announced its global cage-free policy, which means millions of layer hens will live healthier, safer, and more comfortable lives. This brings us one step closer to creating a better world for animals.

Whether you are vegan, vegetarian, or omnivorous, we can all agree on one thing — there are still many animals in the animal agriculture system, and if you eat them, use them, or profit from them, you owe them a better life.

We thank everyone who shared our posts and signed our petition. We further thank Yum! Brands and QSR Brands (M) Holdings Sdn Bhd for doing the right thing.

After months of rigorous campaigning, Yum! Brands—owner of three of the most recognizable restaurant brands in the world: KFC, Pizza Hut, and Taco Bell, as well as The Habit Burger Grill—pledged to eliminate cruel battery cages from its global supply chains in approximately 150 countries and regions!!

You took to the streets, signed petitions, made phone calls, and sent countless tweets, messages, and emails, all to let the world’s largest food company know that chickens deserve better than life in a battery cage. In response to your tireless activism, Yum! announced plans to make meaningful change for egg-laying hens. Now, countless chickens are set to be spared the horrors of lifelong intensive confinement. This is a huge step in the right direction towards our mission of ending the abuse of animals raised for food, and it wouldn’t be possible without you. Thank you to our supporters who are making the world a more compassionate place for chickens!

We also lobby the Government and local municipals for humane treatment of animals and harsher penalities for perpetrators of crimes against animals. Founded in 1958, SPCA is a well-respected and trusted Non-Profit Organisation. Over the years, the organisation has gained tremendous goodwill, recognition and support from animal lovers all over Malaysia
