Hi there! Salem is looking for a very loving and patient home.
Salem was given to us at about a month old by our neighbourhood guard, tiny and alone. At the age of around 5 months, he unfortunately contacted FIP (Feline Infectious Peritonitis) which required expensive treatment for 3 months. This has left Salem as a special needs cat, as he has neurological issues which has weakened his hind legs and causes him occasional spasms, as well as caused him to be slightly incontinent (tends to poop while he walks). He had to wear diapers during his treatment as he became totally incontinent, so he requires little box training if kept indoors.
Because he was raised alone, this may also have caused him to have issues socialising, so he is scared of and aggressive with strangers and other cats. However, given enough time and patience, Salem will warm up to you and genuinely be the cuddliest, sweetest baby. He loves to play and will sleep near your head at night.
We are giving him away as I, his owner, can no longer take care of him as I will be studying overseas, while my family is reluctant to care for him while I am away. We also tend to allow our cats to roam outside and play in the gardens, but since Salem likes to fight with a certain neighbour's cats, he is not allowed to be outside anymore and is kept under supervision indoors.
We hope to find someone who can put in the time and effort to love him and understand him, and if you must keep him indoors, then are able to take him outside often for walks and to play.
