People do not learn. Again cross breeding pups for sale......I hope you guys adopt those strays instead of buying all these cross breed pups...

Hi Scoopy! I appreciate your comment and agree that there are a lot of homeless dogs out there that can be adopted for free and well cared for. I am not stopping people from caring for these dogs by adopting them instead of buying my puppies.

I do interview the buyers to ensure that the puppies are going to be compatible with their new owners and their homes. I also make sure that their intention is not to breed 2nd generation hybrids. I make known medical conditions to look for in the puppies based on the medical history of the parents. I even offer free boarding service for the pups I sell so as to not have them caged up in pet shops.

I believe it is important to know the pups parent's medical history and traits so that the owners of the puppies, usually having children of their own, are assured there is no risk to their own family. Hence, the buyers of my puppies get to see the parents and observe how they behave when they pick up the puppies and so forth. This is just based on my past experiences with my own mutt dog and that of my grandmother who's lineage couldn't be traced. My own dog turned wild when he grew up and would attack anyone that came close. My grandmother's dog bit my hand when I was just standing and talking to my grandmother. I never knew what they lacked for them to do so.

I have a nephew and niece age 3 & 5 who love my dogs/puppies and play with them everyday. I can rest assured that any untoward incidences can be avoided based on the temperament of the parents, especially the Retriever as she disciplines my Husky when he becomes hyper.

I hope you don't think I am an irresponsible breeder because I have created a breed that is going to be homeless. The MKA certified Husky father and MKA certified Golden Retriever mother are both my dogs and they are well cared for. I did plan for them to have a litter together after doing some research and found that the hybrid (Goberian) is a recognized designer breed in America and it's temperament sides either way of the parents. That was, however, not my sole reason for wanting the puppies.

My Retriever suffers from acute moist dermatitis (hot spot) which is common for the breed and our weather. My Husky, though many will think suffers with our weather, is completely healthy and has never suffered any medical condition at all.

My reason then for breeding the two is for the 'heterosis effect'. I hope for the puppies to be happy, healthier and living longer than their parents.

I am keeping 2 of the 8 pups from the litter and have sold 1 female already to a very dog loving family. As far as I'm concerned, all my pups and dogs are well cared for and given their vaccinations and deworming tablets regularly. I am looking for good homes for the remaining pups.

I would only blame dog owners who let their dogs stray when they are not spayed and owners who desert the pups when they are born. I truly respect all the members for their fine work including yourself Scoopy for giving homes to these wonderful creatures. The responsibility lies on the animal owners/breeders to find good homes but sometimes they just choose to let the animals fend for themselves and that's just really sad.

Hi jxng! FYI, I am only selling 6 of the 8 puppies from the litter. My 'profit' would be RM5000 considering 5 of the pups will be sold at RM800 each and 1 for RM1000.

I spend RM238 every 5-6days on dog food for the pups and parents. I am not feeding them Pedigree but Orijen Puppy and Acana Pacifica. These dog foods are grain free and very high in Glucosomine and Chondroitin which are essential for large breed dogs.

I have also vaccinated and dewormed all the pups and will continue to care for them till they get good homes. That is another cost of RM1200-RM1400 for their 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th vaccinations and Heartgard.

If I hold on to the pups for 3 months, my cost would be approx RM4000. I plan to spay my Golden Retriever with that money and purchase a stainless steel cage for my dogs which cost RM1200+.

The only thing I gain from selling the pups is bearing the partial cost for their cage. I don't see it as a profit because I'm not directly benefiting from it. It's the puppies I'm keeping that are going to enjoy a rust-free cage.

I am not a commercial breeder in that sense. I only associated a value to the puppies because if I were to have them adopted for free, humans psychologically don't value what they have and would have my puppies roam around free in the neighborhood. I have personally seen this happen with adopted dogs in my area and sometimes they don't find their way back home and sadly, the owner has lost 'nothing' and will not care to do much. Otherwise, they might decide that it's a hassle for them and give them away to another home and the cycle would continue all because it was free and easy to dispose of.

I hope your dogs have not suffered this fate and have found good homes. I am quite happy with the comments put forth by jxng and Scoopy and believe there are members out there who will be responsible owners of my adorable and healthy puppies soon.

I hope to get recent photos of the pups this weekend. They've grown in size. Only 3 of the pups are big boned. The rest of the 5 pups are lean and tall like a labrador.

I am a bit confused after looking at the comments. So now gmarky is selling the pups or let the pups up for adoption?

ManekiNeko   Jun 23rd 2010 at 9:23PM
Based on the "About the Pet" section above, it sounds like he was selling them before, but is now giving them for free adoption because of an MPSJ warning. Gmarky, I hope you'll be able to find good adopters for them! Best of luck.

They are adorable! I really want to adopt 1 of them. I think my shih tzu will be very happy to have a new brother.
