Dearest ALL,

SPCA Seberang Perai has only very limited manpower. Mdm. Tan with her 2 workers are practically the only ones running the shelter with occasional volunteers. The shelter is not capable of going around the whole state picking up strays everytime you send in a request. Those who wants to surrender your pet(s) or intend to send in a stray to the shelter will need to contact Mdm. Tan at 012-5523447 to enquire if there are space available. Keep in mind that you will need to transport the animals to the shelter yourself and bear the surrender cost. Do not complaint why you need to pay the surrender fee just because its not your pet and just a stray. The shelter survive under public’s donation. Can you imagine everybody reporting strays in their area, expecting SPCA Seberang Perai to go collect and the shelter needs to take them all in? Where do you think the shelter gets the financial support to feed and take care of the animals? We got a lot of emails requesting the shelter to go collect strays from here and there but when we explain the procedures, they will be liked, “huh? have to pay? but its just a stray?” or “huh? need to pay? but its not my dog?”. We are sorry, but if you want to help a stray, make sure you do your part. Your responsibility to help in animal rescue does not just stop after you report. We are doing our part to help but are you?

Hoping for the public’s understanding.

Note: The SPCA Seberang Perai’s Facebook and website are run by volunteers of the shelter, that is why we always ask adopters/surrenders to contact Mdm. Tan directly. Do not leave messages or send in emails if your case is an emergency. Thank you for your co-operation.

SPCA Seberang Perai

The SPCA Seberang Perai is a society registered in September 2005. Our primary aim is to reduce the population of stray animals or possibly a zero stray population in a humane manner. With lesser strays or no strays at all, the loving value of animals will be greatly increased and you can be sure that humans will shower more love for their pets and be responsible pet owners. The problem should not only be shouldered by our Society as the public must also understand the urgent need to control the pet population and give their whole-hearted support to all our projects for the undertaking to be successful. Then we will achieve a clean and hygienic environment for the community. As a no killing organization, we are embarking on a two-prong approach towards the problem i.e public education and sterilization of the stray animals.
