Terrapin Release A Success!

On Saturday, 13th October 2012, a total of 413 five-month-old river terrapins were released into the Kemaman River. These river terrapins were hatched from the river terrapin conservation project carried out in Kg. Pasir Gajah earlier this year.

The simple but meaningful event was officiated by Y.B. Wan Abdul Hakim b. Wan Mokhtar, ADUN Air Putih and attended by about 70 local villagers including children and out-of-towners. Also present were Azuan Alias from the Kemaman Department of Wildlife and National Parks (Perhilitan) and Kg. Pasir Gajah Village Committee Members. After the release event, everybody present were treated to some delicious finger foods prepared by the ladies of the village.

The following pictures were taken during the release event. All pictures were taken by Lai Kow Lian.
