New Incentive Program Hopes To Boost Participation In National Database Program

For more than 20 years, Maddie’s Fund has been a leader for the no-kill movement, and has directly impacted the lives of millions of animals. Maddie’s has been a key partner to Best Friends over the years as well. Their partnership with us in the earliest days of our Utah program helped launch what is now a statewide movement that has the entire state of Utah about to cross the threshold to no-kill.

So it should be no surprise that Maddie’s Fund is now backing another incredibly important initiative that stands to change the way we work together toward making America entirely no-kill.

Shelter Animals Count (SAC) is a collaborative effort with buy-in and participation from many of the nation’s leaders in the animal welfare movement. The goal is simple, although very lofty — to create and share a national database of shelter animal statistics. That kind of database is an incredibly important part of the no-kill game plan.

Of course for the project to be successful, it needs statistics from rescue groups and shelters across the nation so those numbers can be compiled. To encourage organizations to take part, Maddie’s Fund is generously offering $1,000 to every qualifying shelter or rescue organization that registers from now through April 30. How about that, free money to help more pets, just for sharing statistics!

They’re not forgetting about the early adopters who have already signed up. Any of those organizations can refer others, and receive $500 for every single referral.

When Dave Duffield and his wife, Cheryl, founded Maddie’s Fund in 1994, just like Best Friends, they believed that every healthy or treatable animal could be guaranteed a loving home. Every single dollar they’ve generously given toward that goal has helped get us that much closer to a time of No More Homeless Pets.
