5 months ago, we received 4 one-day-old puppies at PAWS. Despite being advised that the shelter of over 250 dogs and 250 cats is not a suitable place for newborn puppies, the rescuer had no choice but to surrender the puppies to us. Those experienced with animals would know that because we receive dogs and puppies (a lot of which are strays) from everywhere, the chance of newborn puppies catching a disease would be very high and as a result, their chance of survival in our shelter would sadly be virtually none.

Fortunately, one of our regular volunteers, Susan, decided to take them home to foster them and keep them safe. Over the next few months, she was with them practically 24/7 and gave them everything they needed and more. She decided to name them Merrell, Puma, Nike and Adidas based on which of her running shoes the puppies climbed into. She brought them back to us a number of times over the next few months for their vaccinations, deworming and neutering.

Now that the processes have been fully completed, Susan decided to adopt Merrell (who gets along with her cats very well, as pictured!), and with a little help from her friend, David, Puma now has a forever home too! Nike was also lucky enough to be adopted the moment she was put up for adoption!

For now, Adidas is still at our shelter waiting for a kind human to take her home. Will you be her best friend for life? Come over to meet her at the shelter any time during our opening hours (9 am – 4 pm every day except Wednesdays and Public Holidays)!

Thank you so much to their original rescuer, fosterer, and adopters for all working together to save these puppies’ lives!

PAWS

PAWS was founded in 1987 by a small group of local and expatriate volunteers. Through their generosity and imagination, PAWS was constructed on a patch of land owned by Sime Plantations on the Subang Airport Road. This distinct group of sheds and a courtyard still stands today and currently homes around 400 cats and dogs.

The staff that work at PAWS include one veterinary surgeon and a number of full-time personnel. The organisation depends entirely on the generosity of the public through donations or proceeds from charitable events organized and run by volunteers.
