It’s a great day to celebrate this great ape. Did you know, the call of a chimpanzee is known as a pant hoot? 🐵
Pant hoots indicate excitement and may be used in a variety of situations such as finding fruit trees, responding to other distant pant hoots or during joyous times like reunions.
The pant hoot is just one of 32 different calls used by chimpanzees to communicate feelings such as anger (waa bark), puzzlement (huu) and distress (a scream, whimper or hoo).
