WWF-Malaysia would like to express our sincere sympathy and condolences to the family of the divers and their friends, in the recent incidence in Semporna attributed to possible fish bombing. Their deaths are tragic, and we do not wish them upon anyone else.

As we allow the privacy for the authorities to delve deeper into the investigation of this matter, WWF-Malaysia would like to stress the dangers and seriousness of the reoccurring fish bombing cases that have been happening in Sabah for decades. Fish bombing is a life or death issue which affects not only marine life but human beings as well. We urge the stop to Illegal, Unreported and Unregulated (IUU) fishing, in particular to fish bombs and the ban of pump boats, which are usually associated with illegal fishing activities.
