Today Is World Orangutan Day Orangutan Can Be Tran..

Today is World Orangutan Day! Orangutan can be translated to ‘person of the forest’ in Malay and Indonesian. They’re the only great apes of Asia and the remaining living ones can only be found in Borneo and Sumatra, where untouched rainforests still remain 🌳🌳.

There are three species of orangutan which are:

✔️ Bornean

✔️ Sumatran

✔️ Tapanuli (discovered in recent years)

.

They’re also known as gardeners of the forest . Their diet consists of bark 🌳, leaves 🌿, flowers 🌼, a variety of insects 🐜🦗 and several hundred types of fruit 🍌. Through their diet, they play a vital role in seed dispersal and maintaining the forest’s ecosystem.
