Bajau Laut youth of Kulapuan Island off the coast of Semporna showing off their turtle replicas during a World Turtle Day celebration. This is part of WWF-Malaysia’s awareness and outreach programmes to promote the conservation of marine turtles. Kulapuan Island is an important feeding and nesting ground for turtles in Semporna. Environmental education is important in mobilising local youths to lead conservation efforts and protect their islands and marine resources.

Today marks the International Day for the World’s Indigenous Peoples. WWF-Malaysia honours the contributions of indigenous peoples towards #conservation.
