Poaching Of Wild Birds In Singapore. A Tip-Off Ale..

POACHING OF WILD BIRDS IN SINGAPORE

A tip-off alerted us to the illegal trapping of wild birds at 708 Yishun Avenue 5. The ACRES Animal Crime Investigation Unit (ACIU) visited the area and found an active bird trap placed among other birds in cages that were hung on a tree. Thanks to the informant and the National Parks Board (Nparks), the trap has since been removed and no further poaching activities were observed during our monitoring.

The ACIU has handled around 50 cases last year, specifically on poaching of birds and wild pigs in Singapore. If you see any illegal wildlife traps set up, please alert NParks at 1800 471 7300 or call the police. You may also choose to call our hotline 9783 7782 or email the information to acrescrime@gmail.com.
