APPEAL FOR INFORMATION – $1,000 REWARD

The SPCA has seen two similar cases of hamster abandonment within a few months of each other, at the exact same location, the void deck of Blk 49 Telok Blangah Drive. Both hamsters were found in containers covered with a green net mesh, with a note stating “Free Hamster”.

The cases are as follows:

A. 1 November 2019: One hamster found abandoned on a bench at the lift lobby in the morning with a note stating “Free Hamster” attached to the container. The case was referred to the authorities but they were unable to identify the suspect.

B. 16 March 2020: One hamster found abandoned on a bench at the lift lobby in the morning with a note stating “Free Hamster” attached to the container.

Investigations are ongoing. The SPCA is offering a $1,000 reward for any information leading to the arrest and prosecution of the person/s responsible for these abandonment acts. Anyone with information in relation to these incidents can call our 24-hour hotline at 6287 5355 (ext. 9), or e-mail inspector@spca.org.sg. Information provided will be treated in the strictest of confidence.

*Under the Animals and Birds Act, anyone who is found guilty of abandonment can be imprisoned for up to 12 months, fined up to $10,000, or both
