We Will Never Forget Feb 27, 2014. We Received Wor..

We will never forget Feb 27, 2014.

We received word on that day that a German man living here had asked his friend in London to contact us for help with his dogs. He had run out of money and was about to be evicted from his rented house in Bukit Jalil.

The local council was also supposed to come on that day to seize his dogs due to complaints from the neighbours.

He also told his friend in the email that he had only RM4 in his pocket, some rice some meat dust in the fridge.

The German man also said that he would be feeding his dogs their last meal before killing himself.

When we received the message from the London friend, we got one of our contacts in the media to get in touch with the district police chief to send someone over to the house.

When the police went there, they found him hanging from the ceiling fan. He had 17 dogs in there with him. We asked the police to keep the local council people out until we got there and called-up some friends including Carlos Huartes of G-Pets to help us capture the dogs.

The dogs were huddled close to their owner’s who was hanging from the ceiling fan in the living room.

Thankfully they got there in time and Carlos allowed us to board the dogs at his place at a discounted price of RM420 a day until we sorted them out. Out of the 17 dogs, we managed to rescue 13 whilst four were too fierce to handle and did not come with us.

A few days later, we managed to get three more which we sent to Thomas Animal Clinic for vaccinations and neutering. The three are now in a shelter. Another one hid under its owner’s car and refused to budge.

He is now living with one of the neighbours in Bukit Jalil. We managed to get 10 of the dogs rehomed and here and one – Ricky Boy – settled in Chicago, USA. When we announced the adoption drive at SS 2 Mall, many German expats came to contribute towards the dogs’ boarding fees.

There were a couple of German families who adopted a few of the dogs. We will never forget that scary episode ever.
