“A stitch in time saves nine!”

A local villager from Kg. Pasir Gajah, Rizal, encountered this female river terrapin while he was out in the river yesterday.

The adult terrapin was pretty lifeless when it was found. She couldn’t voluntarily lift her head. We suspected that she may have been caught in a fishing gear for an extended period of time, hence she couldn’t surface for air.

Rizal immediately lifted it up onto his boat, and in about 30 minutes, she regained her consciousness.

If Rizal did not spot this terrapin in time, or if he didn’t take any action, this adult terrapin may have died!
