RECOVERY AFTER TVT (TRANSMISSIBLE VENEREAL TUMOUR)
Hi, I am Koropok! I was rescued under the nationwide TNRM (Trap-Neuter-Release-Manage) programme, and brought to SPCA’s Community Animal Clinic. The team discovered I had TVT, a disease that can be spread by touch (e.g. sniffing, mating). This condition is present in certain community dog populations in Singapore. Among the affected lot, approximately 10% of us will suffer from the tumour spreading malignantly — it could even take our lives.
Thankfully, treatment for TVT generally has good chances of remission. I underwent chemotherapy and recovered 3 months later! SPCA covered most of the cost of my treatment, and boarded me for over 4 months. The clinic sees an average of 204 new patients every month and many are community animals or pets from low-income households who might otherwise not receive treatments due to hefty veterinary costs.
To help other animals like me, visit https://bit.ly/clinicspca as donations made before 1 April 2021 will be matched dollar-for-dollar! 💙
