Your Stories And Experiences With Fiv Cats Have Be..

Your stories and experiences with FIV cats have been inspiring and heart-warming. Keep sharing them with us as we dedicate the month of March to the ‘under-dogs of the cat rescue world. Cats with Feline Immunodeficiency Virus.🐈

#fivawarenessmonth

FIV is in some ways similar to Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) and affects their immune system. HOWEVER, only cats (including all species of the cat family Felidae) are susceptible to it.

FIV cannot be passed in anyway to other species. AND, the virus is passed on from one cat to another in very specific ways: mostly through deep bite wounds, therefore cannot easily be passed on like some other more common diseases.

Most FIV positive cats we tend to meet therefore happen to be males and those who have major bite wounds; through territorial disputes that often happen between non sterilised males that escalate during mating season.

The virus compromises their immune system, but it doesn’t mean that FIV cats can’t lead normal lives. They just need a bit more love and care as well as regular vet check ups to make sure everything is ok with them.

In other words 🧡FIV is NOT a death sentence🧡 So, let’s make their stories be heard. Let’s get FIV cats in rescues a home.

🔹At Soi Dog Foundation, we care for many FIV cats too, some of them are in good health and can even be adopted. Check them out on our website: https://www.soidog.org/adopt-a-cat

You can also help vulnerable cats like the FIV+ kitties at Soi Dog Foundation, where we believe, like you, in giving these survivors a fighting chance in life. 😻

🔹Donate towards the on going care of cats like FIV positive cats, who are very unlikely to find a home of their own: https://www.soidog.org/content/join-care-cats-club

🔹Or even be a special sponsor to an unadoptable cat and receive regular updates from your #SoiDogRescue Your donations will support for the on going care of not just your sponsor cat, but many others like him or her: https://www.soidog.org/sponsor-a-cat
