Woofwednesday With An Update Of Former Street Dog ..

#WoofWednesday with an update of former street dog Hanumarn who was down on his luck, but now living a life of luxury in the USA.🇺🇸

There is a family for every dog and our almost hairless doggo Hanumarn sure found his, after spending three full years at Soi Dog Foundation’s shelter.

Read on to see how he’s settling in his new home since leaving the shelter behind earlier this year.

🧡

“I can’t tell you how perfect he is…I could not have asked for a better guy. He figured out how to behave around Grass [Hanumarn's new sister] immediately and they get along perfectly, with absolutely no issues. In fact, I think Grass secretly really likes him! They sleep on their beds near one another all day long, hang out in the backyard together, and crawl over one another to sniff at the same spot while on walks. He even figured out on his own not to go in the room where Grass’s food is. She doesn’t eat her food right away and I was concerned he would eat up her special kidney diet food, but he just seems to know not to.

Hanumarn learned the daily routine here quite fast. He’s so cute when he’s waiting for his meals, so patient but then stands on his back legs and does this cute little begging thing with his front paws. He learned to use the dog door and back stairs right away and was 100% housebroken after the first day. He loves going for daily walks (with short bursts of running) – he’s very good on the leash, loves to meet new people and dogs, and is learning a few commands, like “stop” and “wait.” At night, he goes to his bed, gets covered with his blanket and then he’s crashed out all night.

I’ve taken him twice down to visit my elderly parents about an hour away by car. I had to put up a ramp so he could get in the car, but he definitely wanted to go for a ride, so it didn’t take too long to get him comfortable using the ramp. He was perfect in the car. Once we got to my parents house, he met my sister’s dog – they played in the yard and hung out together. We went for a long walk along the trail behind their house, where he met lots of people and other dogs. He was very gentle around my parents (who are in their 90′s!) and happily settled in there.

I’ve also brought him into the shower with me a couple of times for a quick clean up. He walked straight into the shower and just stands absolutely still while I bathe him. He seemed quite itchy when he first arrived, but that is now almost completely gone. I’ve been giving him some good supplements and omega 3 oil and he gets regular moisturizing with coconut oil and a special lotion.

I just can’t tell you how lucky I feel to have Hanumarn in my life…he is just the sweetest, most loveable guy ever. I absolutely adore him and I think he’s pretty happy here, too! Thank you so much for steering him my way!

Lots of love to you and everyone at Soi Dog,

Michelle (and Hanumarn & Grass)”
