Dear Friends

On Tues 21 September, we became aware that the SPCA’s website server suffered a cybersecurity breach. We began investigating immediately with the utmost priority and moved quickly to contain the incident, including taking down of our website to prevent the perpetrators from any further access to the server. We have notified the relevant authorities.

Preliminary investigations have revealed that the hackers illegally gained access to our website system, which is hosted on a third party server. Investigations are currently ongoing to ascertain if any personal data was accessed. If we find evidence that personal data has been compromised, we will reach out to affected individuals as soon as possible.

Many of you interact with the SPCA in a variety of ways, and have trusted us with your personal data. We take this trust and your data privacy very seriously, and because of this, we have taken steps to enhance our IT security over the years. We will carry out a thorough review of our systems and we give you our assurance that we will do everything we can to further strengthen security and data protection, especially in the face of a higher number of cyber-attacks being reported and being carried out with increasing sophistication.

While our website is currently disrupted, our animal welfare services are running as usual and we are responding to cases of animals in need. Adoptions and other vital animal welfare work are also ongoing. While we work to restore our website, you can reach us at the following:

- For emergency rescue and urgent cruelty cases: 6287 5355 ext 9

- For adoptions: www.instagram.com/spcasgadopt

- For general enquiries or to report non-emergency cases: enquiries@spca.org.sg

We are deeply sorry for this breach, and we are taking all necessary steps to prevent this from happening again.

If you require any clarification or have any questions at all, please reach out to us at dpo@spca.org.sg.

Yours sincerely,

Jaipal

Executive Director
