APPEAL FOR INFORMATION: SICKENING GLUED MYNAH CASE AT CCK 503 ST 51

We received a call to our #WildlifeRescue hotline on 20th Oct 2021 at 8.24AM for a mynah stuck to a twig coated with glue like substance, and cable tied to a tree branch at BLK 503 Choa Chu Kang St 51. The mynah whom we rescued at 8:50am, is currently under recovery; without that timely call from the concerned caller, the bird would have died from stress and trauma from losing feathers/dehydration, or a predator could also end up getting stuck to the substance. Our thanks also goes to the Singapore Police Force who came down upon caller’s alert.

Even though mynahs are not protected under the Wildlife Act, this and other cases of tying their feet with cable tie/plastic sheets and suspending via string from a height are acts of cruelty under the Animals and Birds Act, causing suffering and pain.

ACRES has provided all pertinent information including CCTV locations to the NParks , who will be investigating this case.

If anyone has useful information related to this incident, please email with photos/videos/text to acrescrime@gmail.com
