Vergo Was Weak, Malnourished, And Dehydrated When ..

Vergo was weak, malnourished, and dehydrated when he arrived at our shelter back in 2020. He was found by a local volunteer in Phang Nga (84 Km away from Phuket, where our shelter is located) He immediately contacted Soi Dog for help, as he noticed Vergo was unable to walk, and it turned out he had three broken legs!

Vergo recovered from his surgeries and he grew into a beautiful, healthy boy. He was chosen by BnR’s Rock n’ Rescue, one of our partner rescues in the USA, and he travelled there just before the CDC import ban took effect on July 14th 2021. He was placed in a great foster home and was shortly adopted by a family who spotted him. Here’s a pawesome pupdate from his forever mum:

“Esper aka Vergo is WONDERFUL! He’s an excellent addition to our family, and we are forever grateful to you all and your organization for saving his life, giving him the care he needed, and partnering with Forever Home Rescue NE so we could find him.

My husband and I were at a local winery where we saw Vergo with his foster parents. He was wearing an “adopt me” bandana, which caught my attention. We went separately to meet him and both felt like he had a lot of potential and was a sweet boy who we wanted to get to know. Afterwards we had two play dates with Vergo and our current dog, Tucker. They got along well enough and so we pulled the trigger on Vergo’s adoption! He’s very smart and learns quickly. He’s food motivated, which helps a lot with training. He now knows several commands and phrases, and we’re working on developing good habits and manners.

He has such a fun personality. He’s energetic, playful, sassy, inquisitive, attentive, funny, and adorable. He likes to talk a lot. He and Tucker play fairly often and he enjoys being outside, giving kisses, playing, chewing on antlers, hanging out in his crate, chasing leaves, and following both Tucker and I around. He does not like rain nor car headlights and has recently become scared of his leash but he’s successfully potty trained!

Overall, he’s doing great and exceeds my expectations. We love him so much. It’s so heartwarming for me to watch Tucker, my soul mate, play with and be so happy with this new dog who we’ve brought into our lives. He’s not the dog I expected to have when we decided to get a second dog, but he’s perfect just the way he is. We’re so lucky to have him as our dog. It feels like it was meant to be. 💗 Thank you again from the bottom of our hearts for everything you’ve done for him.”

Vergo has been through a lot in his short life, but we are so grateful that he has found a wonderful family to spend the rest of his life with. There’re still so many dogs like Vergo at our shelter waiting to experience the love of a family. Meet them here: https://www.soidog.org/adopt-a-dog
