Tun Mustapha Park Tmp Is Forging Ahead Towards Iuc..

Tun Mustapha Park (TMP) is forging ahead towards IUCN Green List certification, focusing on Criterion 2.3: Understanding Threats and Challenges to Major Site Values. Here’s how TMP is leading the way.

1️⃣ Illuminating the Threats: TMP faces significant challenges like overfishing and destructive practices such as fish bombing, which have serious consequences for our marine biodiversity. We’ve identified these threats in detail, mapped their impact on key ecosystems, and are countering them with stringent regulations, community-led surveillance, and sustainable fishing practices. This comprehensive approach ensures we protect our marine life while supporting the livelihoods that depend on it. 🌊🛡️

2️⃣ Guiding Future Generations: Coastal development pressures threaten vital habitats like mangroves and seagrass beds, which are crucial for marine life and as natural buffers against storms. TMP has worked closely with local authorities to identify these risks and has implemented buffer zones and strict land-use policies to protect these areas. By harnessing cutting-edge technology, we’re not just responding to current threats—we’re anticipating future challenges to ensure these ecosystems and the communities that rely on them are safeguarded for generations to come. 🌍🔮

3️⃣ Standing Tall Against Climate Change: Climate change presents ongoing challenges, from rising sea temperatures causing coral bleaching to extreme weather events disrupting local livelihoods. Some coastal communities within TMP have had to adapt their traditional practices and modify their homes to better withstand these environmental changes. TMP is actively monitoring these climate threats, using the latest data and technology to adapt our management strategies, and collaborating with these communities to build resilience. Our adaptive management ensures TMP remains robust in the face of climate challenges. 🌡️🌱

TMP is committed to addressing these challenges head-on, preserving our present, and securing a sustainable future. 💚🌍
