Injured Dogs Spine Is Completely Broken (Evelyn Wongs)

Ref:http://myanimalcare.org/2012/04/12/very-urgent-injured-dog-left-by-roadside/

This is an update from Koo, after he got home last night:

Hi Dr Chan,
The dog is female aged about 2-3 years old. She put the dog, temporarily named as USJ1, on drips and painkiller. The vet noticed that the dog did not have any leg movement. The vet also took blood for test and x-ray the dog. The x-ray result looks very bad as the spine has completed separated. Thevet said it’s “not salvageable” and the dog could be permanently paralysed. There are some internal injuries in her chest but not serious. The main problem is the bladder and intestines which may be ruptured and affect her peeing and pooing motionbut could only be sure through monitoring over time. The cost is estimated about RM500-600. Evelyn Wong will go back to the hospital to follow-up tomorrow morning.
Attached are the pictures. Sorry that I can’t write properly because I’m too tired and sleepy.
Thanks and best regards,

Koo

Evelyn texted me this morning. Apparently, the dog is not eating and her tongue is hanging out. The initial treatment cost is RM445 and the daily cost is RM90. She is asking if anyone wants the dog.

I know this is like looking for a needle in a haystack, but if by any chance, anyone feels an affinity for this poor dog, and would like to take over the dog, please contact Evelyn on 012-2758910.

Meanwhile, this is our offer of assistance, to Evelyn, as well as to anyone who wishes to take over this dog:

Dear Evelyn,

Koo had kept me informed of the rescue last night as well as the prognosis from the vet.
If your decision is to do everything possible to save the dog, we will help you with a subsidy as per our policy:http://myanimalcare.org/subsidy/
If you click on the link above, there is also a multiple fund policy where, if the cost is RM750 and above, you can apply to two funds, and if more than RM1500, to three funds. The other two funds are KTAJ and PetFinder.my. I will give you the links later as I need to go to work now.
I understand your anxiety and worry as you cannot keep the dog. On my part, I can blog for adopters, but the chances would be slim, based on past experience. It is already hard enough to find homes for healthy dogs, what more a paralysed one.
Paralysed dogs can be given a set of wheels for the back portion of their body to enable them to move. Take a look at this:http://myanimalcare.org/2011/11/30/a-blessing-on-wheels-must-read/
I can help source for donations to buy this set of wheels for this dog. No promises, but I will certainly try.
But first, let us address the bladder problem first. If there is any rupture, can it be fixed?
Since you are the rescuer of this dog, it is still your decision what you wish to do for this dog. Our policy holds where if you wish to treat and save the dog, we will help you as far as our policy allows us to.
Let’s take it one step at a time now. Fix the bladder problem first. And please ask the vet what else needs to be fixed.
Thanks for all your help and the update, Koo.

Looks like this case, in some ways, is similar to Sunshine Courage’s, but it may be graver since the transaction of the spinal column looks worse.

We’ll just have to take it one day at a time and do our best.
