Dear all,

It is getting difficult by the day to keep MDDB afloat with this month being the worst as we are yet to raise enough funds to cover our expenses.

To make matters worse our old and disabled dogs are going in and out of the veterinary clinic on a daily basis.

This is the downside of talking in disabled, sick and very old dogs for palliative care.

Whatever we receive every month goes 100 % for our dogs and at the end of every month, we are left with almost 0 in our account.

We are also very sure that MDDB is the poorest animal welfare organisation albeit being one of the longest around.

We are all now in our 60s, having started MDDB when we were in our 40s and in top form, we cannot go out and do the things we did then to raise funds now.

We also cannot organise protests or carry out daring rescue missions or confront abusers like how we did in the past which led the way for other organisations to emulate.

We are old, tired, drained and discouraged.

We want to give up and don’t want to be in this desperate position monthly anymore but we have 400 + voiceless souls under our care.

So, our fervent wish in ushering The Year of the Horse is to have some reserve funds in our account so that we will not be in this desperate situation month after month.

We also must remain ‘alive’ until our 400+ dogs are alive and due to this cannot rescue or take in new rescues anymore.

MDDB has to just strive to maintain and take care of the status quo as, since we are senior citizens, we do not want to create a situation whereby our dogs are left stranded after we die.

Given this, we hope to dedicate the rest of Feb, March as well as April only to raise funds so that we will have some reserves in the event we cannot raise enough for the coming months.

We hope our suppliers will understand and not ask for any payments during these months.

We sincerely hope to receive your support for this. Thanking you in advance and please help if you are able to.

There is rental, utilities, wages and vet bills to pay and a reserve amount to be set-up.

Malaysian Dogs Deserve Better

Malaysian Dogs Deserve Better is a canine welfare programme initiated by non-profit organisation Community Development and Integration Initiative (CDII).

MDDB's main activities revolve around rescuing dogs from the local council pounds as well as off the streets. Once they have been rescued, the dogs are vaccinated and neutered before being put up for adoption.
