Message from Khun Toom regarding current situation at khemmarat shelter following recent postings elsewhere.
Just finish conversation with chief of Khemmarat shelter, Mr. Surasak replies the situation there, it was raining the whole week. His team can’t get through in every area.
Currently, he has almost 1200 dogs and he still got same number of staff to look after the dogs while continuing doing the construction for the new shelter to extend the area for the new dogs from NP. He says some of the dogs might got sick or couldn’t go out for eating during the feeding time. Overall, he said not serious, some that got sick he already separated and keeping in the hospital for continuing the treatment.
I’m asking how many dogs were sick and it’s serious? He replies not much and the sign and symptom was a running nose and eyes, not distemper.
SDF last week purchased a months supply of rice and chicken carcasses at the request of the shelter and a further 4 tons of high quality dry food has been paid for but delayed owing to manufacturing fault at the factory.
