Well be debating the topic “Non-endangered animals in zoos – are they there just for our entertainment?” tonight at 9pm Singapore time. Join in and pose questions to Louis Ng, Chief Executive of ACRES, and Dr David Jones, Director of North Carolina Zoo .

“The modern day zoo states that they aim to aid the conservation of species and their habitats, and to promote awareness and concern for nature. However the majority of zoos keep more non-endangered species in zoos than endangered species. It is widely accepted that the welfare of some species kept in zoos is compromised, therefore can keeping non-endangered species in zoos be justified, or are they just there for our entertainment?

Dr David Jones, Director of North Carolina Zoo and Louis Ng, Founder and Chief Executive of ACRES will discuss their views on which species are currently kept in zoos, and any potential benefits there may be to keeping non-endangered species in zoos.”
