MIA IS BACK HOME IN THE TREES, HER SUFFERING OVER. WILL YOU HELP US HELP OTHER MONKEYS IN NEED?

Lying helpless and vulnerable on the ground. A shattered pelvis and a seriously injured leg. No hope of recovery without help. This is how we found Mia, a macaque; in pain, suffering and facing a bleak future.

We were determined to do all we could to relieve Mia’s suffering and give her a second chance at life. With the help of the Animal Recovery Veterinary Centre, Mia received life-changing surgery, followed by 6 weeks of dedicated care by ACRES. It was no easy task to put this little monkey back together again, but with Mia’s fighting spirit, she pulled through. We were thrilled when she was released back into the wild a few days ago, her ordeal finally over.

From her injuries, it seems likely that Mia was hit by a car. Macaques in Singapore today face all sorts of threats and dangers, because of habitat loss and a lack of public awareness on how to live in harmony with these smart and curious monkeys.

Mia’s rescue, rehabilitation and release was the first of its kind in Singapore, and with your help we can help many more monkeys. We’ve recently established Singapore’s first-ever Macaque Rescue Team, who are on call 7 days a week, to go to the aid of any macaques in need. The Team also plays a vital role in making Singapore a place where macaques and people live side-by-side.

However, the Macaque Rescue Team needs your support to be able to carry out their work. We urgently need to purchase a small van for the Macaque Rescue Team, to allow us to respond to rescue calls as quickly as possible. The van will cost $40,000.

Please consider making a donation today, to ensure that monkeys like Mia will always have the help they need. Thank you!

Yours sincerely,

Louis Ng

Chief Executive
