JOY & GRATITUDE: MORE WINTER CAT RESCUES

“There are at least 10 – 12 cats behind a local auto body shop,” Harmony Fund Founder Laura Simpson (shown here) explains. “Yesterday I filled my truck with bales of straw and dog houses to use as a temporary shelter for the cats. I stumbled on this colony about a week ago, and was heartbroken to find them standing out in the bitter cold with 35 mph wind gusts.”

“For now, I’m setting up an interim place for the cats to take refuge, but our dear volunteer Karen F has agreed to welcome these cats into her barn sanctuary which has beautiful indoor-outdoor areas. It’s truly cat paradise.”

“The trapping will begin next week and we’ll start the spay/neuter process as we gather the cats. You have my word that not one cat will be left behind. We will stay for weeks after we think the last cat is gone just to be sure and thankfully the coming snow will make it easy to find pawprints. These cats will become lifelong wards of the Harmony Fund. We pay for their food and care all year long. But for now, it’s simply one step at a time and I’ll be there on Thanksgiving morning with a beautiful kitty buffet!”
