GUESS WHO HE FOUND ON THE RIDE HOME FROM THE AIRPORT?
Chris Gillenwater of Norfolk, Virginia was driving home after dropping a loved one at the airport when he spotted something in the road. As fate would have it, this rescuer was in the right place at just the right time.
“If I hadn’t taken Kelly I would not have been where I needed to be to have been able to grab these two pups that were running through traffic near Lafayette & Cromwell!,” Chris said.
Chris was fortunate enough to get a little hand wrangling the dogs from two people who had witnessed them running back and forth in the street.
Because Chris’ house is already a busy place with many rescued animals, he had to temporarily drop the dogs at the Norfolk Animal Care Center. He knew he’d have to locate their family quickly or the dogs would have to be placed in another rescue center before their 5-day-hold was up. Chris immediately got to work posting about the dogs online, and it wasn’t long before the phone rang.
“I just got a call from the owner,” Chris said. “She saw my post on Lost & Found Dogs of Virginia and will be picking the dogs up tomorrow morning.”
Just last month, Chris made a 13 hour freedom ride from Alabama to Virginia with 21 other dogs, If you’re a dog in trouble, he is the guy you want to see driving by.
