AN INTERVIEW WITH MR. SAKTHIVEL, TEACHER FROM NPS INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL.
Weve had the great pleasure of collaborating with National Public School International (NPS) for the past 3 years. Mr. Sakthivel has been bringing his students to volunteer at the ACRES Wildlife Rescue Centre (AWRC) every Tuesday afternoon, which has helped us enormously!
This week, wed like to shine our spotlight on this dedicated teacher and find out more about his thoughts on ACRES:
The programme and organisation was chosen and arranged by the school management. We wanted our students to be more aware of the society and contribute (give back) through the volunteering services. The reason ACRES was chosen was because the school wants their students to have more exposure to different causes. I have been working with ACRES for almost 2 years.
I can still remember the first time when I visited ACRES. I felt very heartbroken looking at the exhibition (exhibits at the education centre about the different acts of animal cruelty). Thats why I encouraged my students to keep volunteering at ACRES. Most of the students didn’t realised how important it is when they first arrived at ACRES, but they always wanted to come back after the first volunteering session because it is emotionally connected to us. It is very important to know that humans are not the only species on Earth, and we have to respect other living beings on earth as they have equal rights to survive.
