HELP TO PREVENT MACAQUES- AND OTHER ANIMALS- BEING KILLED ON THE ROADS

Here at ACRES, we�ve been getting an increasing number of calls about macaques being killed by vehicles on the roads.

We�d like to remind drivers to practice safe driving to avoid such accidents, such as driving slowly at night, honking the horn at animals that look as though they are about to cross the road, and flashing high beam lights at animals to gain their attention (they might be stunned, so slowing down helps tremendously while they recover and move away).

If you see a dead wild animal on the road, please call NEA at 1800- CALLNEA or 1800 2255632 so that they can clear the carcass.

But most importantly, if the animal is still alive, please call the ACRES Wildlife Rescue Hotline (24 Hours) at +65 9783 7782 immediately. It will help if you can state the precise location or nearby landmarks, such as the road name, lamp post number, and the direction of the road (for example, BKE towards PIE, just before exit 1, on the right side of road, just under Rifle Range Flyover.) If possible, stay by the animal until the rescue team gets to the site.
