Our undercover investigators were following up on a tip-off from concerned animal lovers when they approached the house in Chiang Rai, northern Thailand. They had reason to believe the premises were being used both as a make-shift slaughterhouse and a butcher�s shop. Inside this house of horrors, terrified dogs were being brutally killed and their meat sold for consumption.

When our investigators raided the house, they found ten dogs in total, nine of whom were puppies of various ages and from different litters. Their cries for help filled the room where some were being held in tiny cages just prior to slaughter.

It is only support from fellow animal lovers that makes these rescues possible, saving terrified dogs from unbearable torture and slaughter.

Each of the ten rescued dogs was incredibly sick and some were so weak they could barely stand up. One puppy had such serious injuries to her front legs that she couldn�t walk. All of the dogs were infested with tapeworms, easily transmissible to humans eating their contaminated meat.

Thanks to Soi Dog supporters, our team was able to get the dogs out of the nightmare situation in which they found them and straight to a veterinary clinic for emergency medical treatment. They are now receiving the care they desperately needed – regular, nutritious meals to boost their strength and a safe place to sleep while they recover.

The pup with the injured legs is learning to walk with the aid of splints. She has now been adopted, along with several of these lucky dogs. Thanks to people like you, they will never know danger again.

The butcher is now facing criminal charges and is out of business � another slaughterhouse shut down forever.
