“Life is all about choices and what you make of it. Sometimes, we make choices that bring difficult consequences. I injured my ligament in a football match, and the injury has deemed me unfit and unable to fully perform my duties to the best of my abilities in the forest.

I felt as though 60% of my purpose in the team was gone, and that I was therefore letting the team down because they had to now also take up my responsibilities too.

This made me feel very demotivated for quite some time. However, with help from my supervisor and the rest of the team, I’ve slowly accepted that we can’t change the past, but we can influence the future if we want to!

I have now found different ways to contribute to the team, by supporting them with more digital and IT-related tasks such as data processing, analysis and reporting.

I also go into the forest to dispatch the team to their respective locations. Even with certain limitations, I am still doing the best to support the team to the best of my abilities, and that’s what counts!”– Muhamad Afif Wafiy bin Mohamad Taib, Wildlife Monitoring Officer.
