Rivers within the #Baleh watershed are part of tributary of the mighty #Rajang in Sarawak. These rivers are the habitats for indigenous fish species, which is locally known as “#Semah” and “#Empurau”.

There are not many rivers where these #fishes can be found now and it has become one of the focus areas for WWF-Malaysia to improve #watershed #management for the benefit of the rivers and local communities.

The #freshwater team from Sarawak office has conducted several fish assessments jointly with the Inland Fisheries Division, Jabatan Pertanian Sarawak in this area to study the potential high #conservation value of the river for the valuable fish species.
