Malaysia’s seafood production and consumption is currently a BIG threat to our ocean. Malaysians need to support responsible fishermen and fish farmers who are striving towards a healthy ocean, which will contribute to their livelihood and our health.

Did you know that in 2016,

Semporna held almost 45% of Yellowfin Tuna landings in #Sabah?

WWF-Malaysia aims to implement a #sustainable development for the Tuna fishery in Semporna targeting the #fishing #community from Mabul island through a Fishery Improvement Project (FIP).

This was the first coordination meeting conducted and was attended by multiple government agencies, business partners, research institutes, and the fishing community. We wanted to create a platform for all parties to tackle the problems and issues within the fishery industry in Semporna. A pre-assessment report of Semporna’s fishery with suggested action plans were also used during discussion.
