17 DOGS NEED RESCUE

DRUNK ABUSERS “HAVE FUN” WITH POUND DOGS

We are in a frantic mission today to rescue 17 dogs from a pound where men have repeatedly abused and killed dogs in unspeakable ways. This takes place in Targu Neamt, Romania where they’ve now sealed the shelter and will not give the dogs food and water. They are bragging that they are abusing the dogs hidden from view.

“They are bragging they were drunk and went to the shelter to ‘have a lot of fun,” Harmony Fund’s Debbie Evans explains in complete dread. “We are heartbroken. They will not let us feed the dogs and have pulled down all the sheeting we installed to stop the winter weather. They are using it as a blind so that we can not see them or the dogs.”

The last time we were allowed in with food and water was last Friday at which time we filled large troughs, but have been blockaded ever since. The last few days have been spent getting legal access to remove all the dogs and lining up places to bring them temporarily as we ready them for international adoption.

It’s quite a long backstory, but in a nutshell, we have been trying to close down this illegally run Romanian pound for nearly 2 years. Now, just as we are nearing the final stretch and it appears that the men involved in the abuse may be facing prison time, the abuse has escalated and we need help to IMMEDIATELY move all the dogs to safety.

The final verdict in this case is expected on May 21st at which time we may be able to legally take over the pound and begin converting it into a humane shelter run by true animal lovers. But for today, we need help. It will cost about 70 euros per dog for vaccines, worming, transportation, etc. All together, it’s about 980 euros (about $1,100 American dollars). We have to get access to the pound through the mayor’s office, also possibly facing indictment, so this is very tricky, but we hope to be able to have the dogs out within a day or two at the most. We are doing everything in our power to help these dogs.
