Sky’s injury was absolutely shocking. Just try to imagine the unbearable pain she endured while laying helpless in the road. It’s totally heartbreaking to think of how scared she must have felt. She was a homeless street dog, who just wanted love and affection but was instead, hit by a car and left for dead. The impact broke her pelvis, and ruptured her abdominal wall, leaving a huge open wound. This wound was left for so long it had become infected, and she was unable to stand up. Many people drove past, but did not help.

Just over a year later, thanks to people like you, she is living out her #furrytailending in the UK. Sky could not have asked for a better home. Thank you to her adopter, Joanne, for giving her a place to call home and a human to love. We know Sky will be furever grateful to you!

“Sky really is a lovely girl and we are loving getting to know her. She is doing brilliantly, settling in really well. She is much more active than I expected, though at a slower pace. My other two dogs are being cautious but respectful. She has taken a shine to my old girl Sadie, who is fifteen. All our dogs sleep upstairs with one of us, so she gets carried to bed and back down in the morning. We have kept her furnished in jumpers to make sure she isn’t cold and she has had a couple of trips out with us (1 to buy a tree and new jumper and to meet our horses). She really loves affection and kisses, and is very responsive. She is also finding her way around the house really well, which quite surprised me. She loves pottering in the garden and has started to go out on short walks. I thought she would be much more subdued than she has been and that’s a delight.”

If you have adopted a dog or cat from us, please send us your pictures to adoptions@soidog.org. We love seeing our beautiful animals settled into a loving home.
