Maru was suspected to have been abandoned. When we took her in, she was anaemic and emaciated. Despite being only 8 months old, she had kidney stones, which could have become complicated kidney disease if left untreated.

One potential cause of kidney stones could be due to the lack of fresh drinking water. It’s important to change your cat’s water bowl regularly. A cat should drink 60ml/kg per day of water (e.g. a 4kg cat should drink 240ml of water per day). If your cat doesn’t like to drink water, it is still important to encourage water intake. One way to do so is to feed wet food or simply mix tablespoons of water to their dry food. You can also try using a drinking fountain.

Her fosterer says she has a ravenous appetite and looks like she gained weight. She never makes you feel lonely; she will greet you every time you come home and ask for cuddles. She is an amazing cat with a big heart and will soon be in her forever home! 💙
