Two Bird Trappers Fined As Prosecutor Cites Increase In Bird Poaching

POACHERS PROSECUTED 👏👏

On 18 Sep 2019 4pm, ACRES was informed of suspected poaching activity by a member of public, who also sent us photos of the trap with the dove, videos and the plate number.

ACRES arrived at the scene at 1655 hours and found the netting trap on the ground and poacher still on site. We alerted the SPF and the NParks.

We would like to thank the Singapore Police Force officers for responding immediately to confiscate the traps. The person showed the spot where he buried the dove who died in the trap, and our staff dug the spot and found a spotted dove carcass which we sent for post-mortem examination.

We would like to thank NParks and it’s prosecutor for this case, with a penalty that will serve as a deterrence too.
