DOGS IN LANDFILL TO HAVE CHRISTMAS?

Rescuer Marijana Pejic in Bosnia drives to the garbage dump with huge sacks of kibble. She is a brave woman in a desolate place, but she is not alone. Within moments of her arrival, the dogs begin to appear. Young ones, old ones. Some friendly, some too timid to approach a human. They all recognize Marijana and know that she has brought food and water.

Marijana has already taken in 60 of these dogs to her home-based shelter and does her best to provide good food and veterinary care. Her dream is to spay/neuter the others and provide them with better shelter and veterinary care….and perhaps one day with homes of their own. In these photos, you can see that she does her best with her own modest resources to create makeshift shelters for the dogs.

Each month, Harmony Fund provides food and care for homeless dogs in shelters and on the street, not only here in Bosnia, but in many countries worldwide. If you’re looking for a holiday gift, perhaps one of the best may be to help these animals and to share a special experience of compassion in action.
